At Placement we create places that complement and uncomplicate everyday life.
From residential to retail; civic to educational, each project is bound by a belief that good design should be beneficial to its community, respectful of the environment, and informed by the personalities and stories of those who experience it. We’re excited by the work we do, we embrace creative fervour, and we remain forever curious.
Our process is one of gathering—seeing all influences and elements as opportunities to create more meaningful objects and spaces. Together, we create architecture that’s generative, always personal and loved for generations.
The practice was established in 2019 by Stephanie Kitingan, Jacqueline O'Brien and James Flaherty, and remains an intimate client focussed studio today.
All directors are registered with the Architects Registration Board of Victoria, with one member affiliated with the Australian Passive House Association. Directors also teach architectural design, history, and professional practice at Monash University and the University of Melbourne.
We are proud members of Parlour, a research-based advocacy organization dedicated to advancing gender equity in architecture and the built environment professions.
